Voter Registration

Residents interested in registering to vote are encouraged to use the California Online Voter Registration System.

Applications for voter registration in English, Spanish (español), and Vietnamese are also available at City Hall during regular business hours.

Please Note: Voter registration is processed through the County of Orange Registrar of Voters (ROV) office and not through the City of Westminster. If you have any questions regarding voter registration, contact the ROV directly at (714) 567-7600.

To register to vote in California, you must be:

  • A United States citizen;
  • A resident of California;
  • 18 years of age or older on Election Day;
  • Not found by a court to be mentally incompetent; and
  • Not in prison, on parole, serving a state prison sentence in county jail, serving a sentence for a felony, or on post release community supervision.

For more information, please visit the Secretary of State's website.

Voter registration deadline:

In California, the deadline to register to vote for any election is 15 days before Election Day. You must submit your online voter registration by 11:59:59 p.m. or have your application postmarked or hand-delivered to the County Registrar of Voters at least 15 days before the election. If you opt to register in person, you must register before the end of the business day at the Orange County Registrar of Voters' office at 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, CA 92705.

Changes to your current voter registration:

If you have, moved, changed your name, or changed your political party choice, you must re-register to vote. Verify your current voter registration and make changes if necessary.

Vote-by-mail option:

Registered voters may apply to receive a one-time paper ballot by mail or become a permanent vote-by-mail voter. For more information and to apply, visit the Registrar of Voters' website.

Your Polling Location/Where to Vote:

The polls are open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. To view your assigned polling place, access your voter information on the Orange County Registrar of Voters' page.

Your assigned polling location will also be printed on the sample ballot you receive by mail prior to the election. You may also contact the county election's office directly at (714) 567-7600 for polling place information.

Early in-person voting location:
