Home MenuSafe Routes to School (SRTS)
Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is an approach that promotes walking and bicycling to school through infrastructure improvements, enforcement, tools, safety education, and incentives to encourage walking and bicycling to school. Nationally, 10%–14% of car trips during morning rush hour are for school travel. SRTS initiatives improve safety and levels of physical activity for students.
•The City of Westminster was awarded a grant from Caltrans to conduct a citywide Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Plan
•The SRTS Plan will provide implementable recommendations to create safer, more comfortable walking and bicycling options for Westminster school children, their families, and residents.
•The SRTS Plan development process includes school and community engagement for all 21 public schools in the City of Westminster.
•The SRTS Plan has the potential to lead to millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements geared toward our most vulnerable residents - our children!
