Exercise and Fitness Classes

Adapted Fitness (Chair Exercise)

Classes designed to assist seniors with disabilities in the maintenance of general physical fitness, flexibility, and balance. Students participate in one class meeting per week for up to two hours. The classes are lively, positive and fun.

Adaptive & Gentle Yoga

This yoga class is designed for people of varied abilities. It is unique in that it takes vinyasa-inspired sequences and adapts them to a hybrid seated and standing chair assisted practice. Chair is provided, bring your own mat.

Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Fitness Class: Strengthen Your Bones

This bone strengthening class will guide you through dynamic standing, stretching, and chair exercises. performed with or without weights. These movements help increase flexibility and improve balance to lower the risk of falls.

Mondays at 3:00 pm

Line Dancing

Line Dance class uses many types of music, tempos, rhythms and styles of dance and dance combinations. It is a great benefit for exercise, memory, balance, mobility, cardiovascular fitness and staying healthy. You don't need a partner, age is not a factor and it is fun and friendly. *Fee based class

Longevity Stick

This is a Vietnamese exercise of a series of movements done with a stick. The exercises are to help maintain a healthy body and mind by improving your balance, flexibility, strength, mental focus and breathing. A one-inch thick dowel that is equal to your height with rubber tips on each end is required for the class. Classes are held outside in the Sunken Gardens, Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Low Impact Cardio

Get your heart rate up with low impact cardio, combined with strength and balance training. Finish with an energizing stretch so you're ready to tackle the rest of your day. 

Thursdays at 8:00 a.m.

Mindful Movement

Enjoy mindful movements from yoga, Pilates and functional medicine, performed both seated and standing to improve your core strength, ease of movement and balance, and help with achy feet, tight hips, low back pain, restriction in mobility and more.

Mondays at 9:00 a.m.

Mindful Movers Walking Club

Put on your sneakers and grab a bottle of water, as you walk your way to good health! Join friends for a walk around the Westminster Civic Center and surrounding areas. This activity is FREE and open to all. Meet at the flag poles in front of the Senior Center to join the group!

Group meets on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m.

Moving with Milly

Join this low impact exercise class that enhances your balance and strengthens your body. All levels are welcome, no experience is necessary, and you will have a great time. This activity is FREE to attend, just register at the Front Desk!

Mondays at 8:00 a.m. and Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m.

Seated Stretch & Strength

The chair exercises in this stretching and strengthening workout are low impact and performed while seated. They are designed to improve flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular health.

Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m.

Stretch and Flex

Stretching exercises to help the joints, muscles, and with range of motion. Exercises are done sitting in a chair which takes the stress off the hips, knees and lower back.  *Fee based class

Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Meets Tuesdays 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. You are welcome to bring in some of your favorite games to share and teach others.

Yarn Spinners

The Yarn Spinners are a group that get together to crochet and/or knit for charities, such as Operation Beanies for service members, Orangewood Children’s Center, and Walking Shields, Inc. (serving American Indian families since 1986). They also work on their own personal projects.
