Home MenuReserve Program
The Westminster Police Department officially began a reserve officer program in the early 1960's. Reserve Officers are part-time employees who have full law enforcement powers while on-duty, have discretion, and function under supervision to play a significant role in supplementing the department’s resources. The Reserve Police Officers wear the same uniform and perform the same, or similar, duties as regular officers. Reserve Police Officers receive compensation for the hours worked and are a valuable resource in times of emergencies.
Many of our current reserve police officers have full-time jobs outside our agency while at the same time working part-time for the police department.
Minimum requirements and selection procedures for Reserve Officers are the same as for full-time police officers. For further information, see the Reserve Job Description.
Successful candidates must have attended, or recently completed, a police academy at one of the following locations:
- Orange County Sheriff’s Training Facility
- Goldenwest College Police Academy
- Rio Hondo Police Academy
