West County CERT is a community oriented disaster preparation program for residents of Buena Park, Cypress, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, and Westminster.

The CERT program educates the community in disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in the neighborhood and workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

This FEMA approved course includes the following modules:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Team Organization
  • Disaster Psychology (Emotional First Aid)
  • Fire Suppression
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Disaster Medical Operations I & II

Classes are held at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Base - Veterans Service Center: 11200 Lexington Drive, Building 244, Los Alamitos, CA 90740.

There is a $25.00 supply and material fee. Please make checks payable to OCEVA.

Out of an abundance of caution, the March CERT Class has been postponed to a future date, which is yet to be determined.
